What is it good for?- Max Kaufman

The topic of intervention on an international level is and I believe will always be a very difficult decision. I am in no way a violent person but I do believe that in some cases war is necessary. For instance a situation that war would be more than called for would be genocide. I think that when war is "called for" it might be necessary but in no way will ending a life be a good deed, it might be completely justified but it is merely the lesser of two evils. I think that in a situation involving genocide a countries do have a responsibility to engage in conflict. However I think there are more effective ways to resolve certain problems like simply conflicted interests. For instance I think building up defense should be a larger priority then stopping the problem at its roots. In a situation when you could build a good defense to prevent bloodshed that will always be a better answer than sacrificing lives acting on essentially a hunch that a country might attack.
