Perhaps the greatest of problems I find in the world is the peculiar amount of hazard I find walking down a city street. Though I rarely peruse our ever-changing city streets, I always am daunted by the one annoyance I can always depend on: catcalling. Regardless of what I am wearing, what type of year it is, or even whether or not I'm walking with my mother or father, there is always an instance of a honk of of car or a yelp from a man. So the solution? Begin to enjoy it!
This may seem like a ridiculous idea, but it is the best solution. Hasn't everyone always told us to ignore the negative and focus on the positive? Then this is the way to do it! Instead of dreading the constant harassment, take it as a compliment. Oh, so you think my skirt is a little too short? Excellent! I probably look oh so much sexier. You think my skirt is too long? Perfect! I'm just teasing, of course.
The best time catcalling can happen is a school, where I always feel safe and comfortable. After all, I'm surrounded by such lovely staff that always make sure I am learning effectively. When I am called out by teachers in the hallways for showing my bra straps, I'm so glad they took away so of my learning time to dedicate to a fashion faux pas. When boys in the hallway occasionally corner me, I just feel so lucky to have my shoulder wrapped around by a sweaty, 'funny' guy. A warm embrace is always welcomed of course, even if it isn't consensual! Who needs consent, right? It's just so great to be happy about everything! Feelings are for the weak!
