Brave Little Toaster - Emily Salamanca
Having to choose just a single object is difficult because of the multitude of various dolls and stuffed animals in my room. If I were to count each pair of eyes in my room right now, the digit would be well into the hundreds. Despite this, I would have to say the most interesting object I can think of at the moment is a little plastic skull. I really dislike skulls myself. I find them tacky and overused, perhaps even a bit macabre. This particular skull, however, is a jewelry box that I received for Christmas last year. The top part of the skull cracks open to reveal a place where a necklace used to lie. This skull contrasts so much with the other object in my room (i.e. my collection of Dalmatians and American Girl Dolls) that I imagine that when I am gone, it glares at the dolls and dogs, with its evil glass eyes, and mocks them. I bet that if it were alive (if it is possible for a disemboweled skull to reanimate) that it would be incredibly sarcastic, much like the trope of the mad scientist in so many cartoons. Maybe it's just the cartoonish layout of my room, or maybe it's just the skull, sitting on the edge of my shelf, glaring.
