What is it good for? - Jeb Brumley

I believe that the act of war can be considered just under some circumstances. Although violence might always seem like the wrong answer to conflicts with others, it is occasionally the only option. If a government is being extremely unfair to its citizens or threatening another nation, war is likely to happen. For example, if other countries threaten to hurt U.S. citizens, our government will likely declare war on them because they want to protect us. In this case, we are declaring war for our own safety. On the other hand, the country or group threatening us probably does not have a good reason to want to hurt us. In this case, war is not just. These people are usually, if not always, unwilling to compromise in another way. Because of this, war has to happen against them and when it does, it will be appropriate. Unfortunately, it is human nature to have disagreements and conflicts, and sometimes war is necessary to solve them.
