On This Date- Olivia McCrary

On October 1, 1908, Henry Ford's Model T car was introduced. This is an incredibly significant moment in history. Before the Model T, it wasn't easy to afford a car and cars weren't readily available to the general public. Also, because of the production of this car, assembly lines were put into use. Assembly lines allowed the cars to be produced more effectively- this mass production contributed to the car's widespread distribution and popularity. Assembly lines definitely had a major impact as they are still used today. The introduction of the Model T must have changed America almost immediately. Before, very few people had cars, but once the affordable Model T was released, ordinary people began driving. I am very grateful for the invention and production of cars- I can't imagine what life would be like today without effective transportation.
