Right Now- Max Kaufman

At this very moment, somewhere in the universe, another piece of the past is destroyed. An important issue we must face as the next generation of people on earth is the preservation of the past. Everyday a piece of old technology is discounted as being inferior; technology that should be preserved as precious mementos. Things like phonographs, typewriters, and fountain pens are slowly becoming relics of the past. I think that these things must be preserved so that they can be appreciated for the beautiful devices they are. For example the Hammond Organ is a beautiful instrument that both is a work of art, and a wonder of engineering. It provided plenty of fuel to the jazz movement and helped form the music we listen to today. The only of its kind, these organs manipulated an astounding number of physics concepts to create a unique tone that greatly shaped the music scene. So why is it that majority of people you ask have no clue that this instrument exists? It is a terrible crime to not honor the technology of the past.
