How to post an Instagram picture

The first step to posting a picture on instagram, or insta as the kids are calling it, is to take an insta-quality photo. While this might sound easy, it is in fact one of the hardest steps of the process. There are many different parts that factor into whether a picture is insta-quality or not. First and foremost is the lighting. Can you see enough of the subject, most likely you or you and friends, that it shows off the good features, but does it hide enough that you can't see the bad ones. On one hand, a fuzzy photo with bad resolution could confuse people as to what is in the picture, on the other hand, too much high definition and you could see to many of your pimples. Therefore, the perfect resolution and visibility is key.
Next, you have to make sure you look good in the picture. Is your hair perfect? Does your smile make you look like a normal human being? Is your fit "on point"? Do you look too fat? You need to consider all of these questions and more when deciding if the photo is in fact insta-quality.
Continuing the process, you either need to edit the photo, or get someone to edit it for you. This goes along with the lighting to help accentuate what you want your followers to see, and hide what you don't want them to see. I personally am not a quality editor and resort to asking the better known ones, Caroline Totty or Emily Chavez usually.
Now that you have the photo ready its time to post. Make sure to come up with a clever caption for maximum likes but if you're creativity is low, just go with something basic, it's okay. Making use of the location as a second caption for humor is an option, but don't do it on too many of your pictures or it becomes overused and unfunnny. There's also always the option of using the actual location, which I only advise if there is beautiful scenery (i.e. Red River Gorge).
After hopefully developing a clever and fitting caption, and possibly a location too, you're completely done and ready to upload it for the viewing of your followers. All that's left to do is sit back and watch your like game get stronger by the second.
