What is it good for?- Olivia McCrary

Though sometimes war seems inevitable, I think there is always another more peaceful way to solve a problem. Just like everyone else, I greatly dislike war. It may appear necessary and justifiable in some cases but there are always other options. Nonetheless, people will still argue that war is the best or only choice. I'm always skeptical of war because throughout history people have gone to war for absolutely no valid reason. In most of these situations, war could have been avoided had the two opposing sides just communicated and compromised. Compromise is an amazing solution- I just wish people could realize this. Also, it saddens me that war and violence occur and have occurred because of a lack of toleration for a different culture or belief. I just don't understand this. In many cases, peace would be so simple and easy to achieve if people actually had respect for each other and were willing to accept diversity.
